Home Depot Price Tracker: Price Drop Alerts at Your Stores
In this guide 8 sections
Why track a Home Depot price?
Big purchases like a grill, a mower, a tool kit or an appliance often go on sale for a while, then back to full price. If you buy on the wrong day, you pay more. If you wait, you have to keep checking.
Prices can also be different at each store. The website price doesn't always match the shelf price at the store near you.
A price tracker does the checking for you.
How the PennyLoot Price Tracker works
- Copy the product link. Find the product on homedepot.com or in the Home Depot app and copy the link. The 9-digit Internet number works too. You can also search products we already know.
- Paste it in your Price Tracker. That's it. Any product, any price. It doesn't need to be on clearance.
- Pick a price (optional). Leave it empty to hear about any real drop, or type the price you'd pay, like $299.
- We check it every day. Our bots check the price at your 5 nearest stores.
- You get an email. When the price drops, we email you the new price, the old price and the store.
Your Price Tracker page also shows the best store right now, the lowest price we've seen and how much it dropped since you added it.
Tips to save more
- Add it early. Start tracking a few weeks before you need it. Sales come and go.
- Set your price. For a $500 item, a $5 drop isn't worth a trip. Type the price you'd actually pay.
- Watch the season. Grills and patio sets get cheaper after summer, snow blowers after winter. Our seasonal clearance calendar shows when.
- Check before you go. Prices and stock change fast. Confirm the price in the Home Depot app before you drive. See how to check prices in the app.
What kinds of products to track
- Big purchases: grills, mowers, appliances, tool combo kits, patio sets.
- Seasonal items you plan to buy next season.
- Items you buy often, like filters or a specific paint or tool brand.
- Discontinued models you want before they're gone.
Price Tracker vs. clearance deals
| Feature | Clearance deals | Price Tracker |
|---|---|---|
| What it shows | Items already marked down near you | Items you choose, at any price |
| Best for | Finding surprise deals | Buying a planned item at the right time |
| Alerts | Daily deal emails | Email when your item's price drops |
Many members use both: deals for surprises, the tracker for planned buys.
Does it track Lowe's prices?
No. PennyLoot only tracks Home Depot, because Home Depot prices change store by store. If you shop both, check whether Home Depot will price match Lowe's on the same model.
How price drops happen at Home Depot
Regular prices change for many reasons: holiday sales, special buys, model changes, or a store marking down old stock. Because many of these are local, the website price doesn't always match your store. Read Special Buy vs. clearance to understand the different kinds of price drops, and Home Depot price match for what to do if the price drops after you buy.
Is it worth it?
If you plan to buy something big at Home Depot, one good drop can save you much more than PennyLoot costs. Start your free trial, open Price Tracker and add the product you're waiting on.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Home Depot price tracker?
Home Depot doesn't offer price drop alerts. Most online trackers only follow the website price. PennyLoot's Price Tracker checks the price at your 5 nearest stores every day and emails you when it drops.
Does the item need to be on clearance?
No. The Price Tracker is made for regular, full-price products you plan to buy. You add the item and we tell you when it gets cheaper.
How do I add a product?
Open the product on homedepot.com or in the Home Depot app, copy its link (or its 9-digit Internet number), and paste it in your Price Tracker.
How often are prices checked?
About once a day at each of your stores. You get at most one price drop email a day, only when a price really went down.
How many products can I track?
Up to 20 at a time. Remove one anytime to add another.
